My family and I are local Walthamstow residents and headed
to theVillage Tapas Bar with our visiting in-laws from overseas.
On making the reservation the waitress twice set a curfew of
8.45 for us to complete our dining experience. Being that
we made the booking for 6.30, I didn't see this as a problem
and assured we'd be finished long before. However trouble
set in when we attempted to order dessert, having asked if
we wanted dessert menus we then gave an order of coffee
and 1 x Rice pudding, we were advised minutes later by that the
chef was 'too busy' to prepare desserts. We even had to
cajole the powers that be into providing an ice-cream
scoop for our daughter. On one occasion a waitress even looked
at our table with exasperation to see if it was ready to be cleared.
But the most breathtaking experience came in our dealings with
the manager. When I recounted our experiences he displayed
nothing but arrogance, and stated the table was needed back
by 7.45 and not 8.45 and demanded to know which member
of staff I had dealt with. He assured me also that the customer was
wrong in this instance, after he had brought us the bill without us
requesting hit. Having amassed a sizeable, I was truly shocked
at how little our custom valued and will be giving this
establishment the widest of berths.

Had dinner with my wife and two friends last night and had a
great time. Cracking food, super service, and great atmosphere.
Already planning our next visit.

Fabulous food, lovely friendly  attentive staff - reasonable prices - packed soid. Could do with a bit more light in the back room (but it was opening night for the extension) - won't tell our friends - want to keep it for ourselves!

Walthamstow Village needed a tapas bar and in 2006 it got one, and not a bad one at that. The Orford Saloon has been a success from day one. Formerly a barber's shop it offers the usual range of tapas along with a few specials that change from time to time, although I do feel that the there could be more choice. The atmosphere is pleasant and nicely-lit with Spanish influenced decor and local art. The chef has been imported from Spain to work in E17 (''fool!''  I hear you cry) and the Spanish appetisers are generally very good. Service is friendly and prices are reasonable. But be careful not to order too much (eyes bigger than belly syndrome is common).

There are four choices of paella; meat, fish, vegetarian and mixed (at £21 but enough to share), all well worth the 45 minutes needed to prepare them.

Wine is very quaffable and costs between £14 and £28, my favorite is the Tinto Rioja at £15-50. Tapas are £6 or £7 each but with one very special exception, the free roaming (but not anymore), acorn fed, black pig or jamon at £14-50. This restaurant is small and popular so booking is essential for weekends and advisable weekdays... Adios...

We have been regulars here since it opened and can gladly say, have never had a bad experience.
We went again last Sunday lunch time, once again had a lovely meal, with lovely wine, fab service & atmosphere.
Going back very soon.
