I haven't been to every Indian restaurant in E17 but I reckon you would find it difficult to find one better than this. The Forest used to be one of those fine, red flock wallpapered establishments and the food had always been good. It was refurbished a couple of years ago and now has a very clean, fresh and contemporary feel. There is even a flat monitor on the wall which sometimes shows Bollywood-style music videos. 
All the regular dishes are served, plus a few Forest Specialties - choose between duck and three types of fish (Rupchanda, Telapia or Salmon) all of which can be served with your choice from seven sauce options. If in doubt ask the waiter (I was once quietly advised that my random guess for the sauce accompaniment was way off the mark). The specialities are priced at £8.95. The tandoori trout at £9.95 is also of exceptional quality. Vegetables taste freshly prepared and the naan bread is crisp and hot (not the cold and stodgy stuff so often found). 
It's busy at the weekends, but there's no need to book. Prices are slightly more expensive than some with regular main courses around £7 to £8 but it's worth it!
