If you've ever walked from the top of the market to the bottom, then turned around and walked back the other way, next time don't. Keep walking... In about six to ten minutes, depending how tired you are, you will see The Coppermill on the corner of Coppermilll Lane and Chester Road. This is about as traditional a local boozer that you're likely to find. It's small and has a definite local feel probably due to the fact that it's off the beaten track. Being close to the marsh this pub also has a slight country feel. There are benches outside for that warm summer evening and recently the Coppermill opened a small garden, probably due to the smoking ban. The locals prop up the bar physically and financially as passing trade is almost non-existent. It's clean and friendly but a little male-orientated. This very small pub has three (small) screens and makes the most of its contract with Sky TV. 
Beer in The Mill is always good and as a Fuller's tied house sells London Pride and ESB. Both are generally well kept and prices are very reasonable. The Guinness is above average and lagers are sparkling and cold. All beer is under £3 a pint. 
Sunday night is quiz night at The Coppermill. Hosted by ''Brian the Bobby'' (when he's not on duty) the highlight is a ''Our Survey Said'' round. Move over Les Dennis and Vernon Kay (Max Bygraves and Bob Monkhouse for our older visitors). Normally this brings a good crowd so get there early.
Unfortunately there is no food available at The Coppermill.
